Student Health Services Fall 2017 starts August 15, 2017.

Registered students, please confirm attendance with the RU-Newark Business Office in person or website.

Full-Time Student, With Student Health Insurance?

  • There are NO COST to the visit, NO CO-PAYS and NO LIMITS to the number of visits. 
  • Visits include physical examination, gynecological examination, STD evaluation, acute or scheduled medical appoinment, others.
  • Annual routine and STD screening tests at NO COST
  • Routine vaccination at NO COST

Full-Time Student, Waived the  Student Health Insurance?

  • There are NO COST to the visit, NO CO-PAYS and NO LIMITS to the number of visits.
  • Visits include physical examination, gynecological examination, STD evaluation, acute or scheduled medical appoinment, others.
  • However, having waived the student insurance, students are personally responsible for laboratory testing fees (sent to an outside laboratory testing facility) and the costs of immunizations. Most routine and STD testings are low cost (e.g. cholesterol $2.38, HIV antibody $3.81, strep culture $3.78). Students need to call their private health insurance regarding reimbursements of these costs.
  • Health services and its staff do not participate in any other insurance policies. For outside consultation referrals, diagnostic laboratory testing and x-rays, and prescriptions, students are responsible to contact their private health insurance regarding coverage (e.g., in/out of network, approval from PCP, co-pays, deductible, percent coverage, etc.).

PART-TIME domestic students

  • Part-time students are not required to pay the health services student fees and the student insurance and are highly advised to enroll in the student insurance plan during the enrollment period.
  • Part-time students have the option to pay the health services fee or pay the per-visit fee. They will incur charges for laboratory and procedure fees, and costs of immunization.
  • Health services and its staff do not participate in any other insurance policies. For outside consultation referrals, diagnostic laboratory testing and  x-rays, and prescriptions, students are responsible to contact their private health insurance regarding coverage (e.g., in/out of network, approval from PCP, co-pays, deductible, percent coverage, etc.).
