Health Services

WHERE CAN I GET HELP ON CAMPUS?

The following services are available to students, staff, and faculty.

  • Sexual Assault Services Rutgers University Newark (SAS/RUN), Blumenthal Hall Suite 104, (973 353 HELP or 973 353 5231)
  • Office is open Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30. You will be seen promptly after notifying the staff of your needs. We will provide medical services, support, advocacy, and referrals whether the assault occurred on or off campus.  .
  • Rutgers Police(5111)

They will take an initial report and provide transportation to an emergency room where you can be evaluated and receive care. Making an initial report and seeking care does

not mean you must press charges

RUPD can access clinicians by phone 24/7 for emergencies

  • Housing and Residence Life staff for Dorm Residents
  • Professional residence life staff members, including RAs, are trained to offer support and referral. They are mandated to file a report of the incident with the Director of Housing, who will file an anonymous report with the Campus Safety Officer. Students can not be required to file a report or to participate in any subsequent investigation.

  • Essex County Rape Care Hotline( 1-877-733-CARE (2273) and speak confidentially or anonymously to a trained advocatewho is not affiliated with Rutgers,  to answer questions, provide information, accompany the victim through emergency room care, and support. Available 24/7
  • Counseling Services, Blumenthal Hall, Suite 102  (973 353 5805)

Counseling services are available to all students at no charge

These services are exempted from reporting requirements.
